1st Interdisciplinary Symposium on Sustainable Development

Namur, Belgium, January 31st, 2013

The 1st Interdisciplinary Symposium on Sustainable Development, held in Namur, Belgium, aimed to address the systemic crises facing humanity by encouraging innovative scientific perspective, promoting an interdisciplinary approach, and enhancing the recognition of scientists working on sustainable development. Using Skype technology from Washington, D.C. Mr. Rifkin gave a keynote speech, outlining the Third Industrial Revolution, and how it frames a future vision of sustainable development.

The Todd Lecture Series, Norwich University

Northfield, Vermont, USA, February 25th, 2013

The Todd Lecture Series, named to honor Norwich University's President Emeritus W. Russell Todd, continued into the spring of 2013 with "The Impact of Scientific and Technological Changes." Mr. Rifkin Presented the Third Industrial Revolution, explaining how the convergence of internet and renewable energy technologies are impacting society.

Friends of the Supergrid

Brussels, Belgium, March 19th, 2013

The Friends of the Supergrid conference looked to promote and influence the policy and regulatory framework required to create a large-scale European Supergrid. Mr. Rifkin gave a keynote speech from Washington D.C. via Skype explaining how the Supergrid is the nervous system of a new infrastructure revolution.

Third Annual Hello Etsy Conference

Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, March 22nd, 2013

At the Third Annual Hello Etsy, the theme was "Reimagine the Marketplace" exploring the creative economy of the future. Mr. Rifkin gave a keynote address via video outlining the collaborative, peer to peer nature of the Third Industrial Revolution, and how it will influence the collaborative economy for generations to come.

"The Chinese Dream" The fifth Forum on China Studies

Shanghai, china, March 23rd-24th, 2013

The focus of the fifth Forum on China Studies was "The Chinese Dream" or, what kind of path will China take in the next 20 years? Mr. Rifkin presented a keynote speech over Skype, outlining what China can do to differentiate itself from the path many Western countries have taken. Investments in renewable energy, a full-scale shift to a Third Industrial Revolution, and a focus on harvesting the unique physical and cultural characteristics of China were the key points of the presentation.

The spring cycle of lectures at the Swiss Institute of International Studies saw Mr. Rifkin present "Leading the Way Towards a Third Industrial Revolution," a lecture detailing the transition from fossil-fuel dependency to a renewable energy based society, and the opportunities that come with it.

At the annual German Savings Bank Association conference, Mr. Rifkin explored The Third Industrial Revolution, praising Germany's initiative in implementing all five pillars.

At their Members and Stakeholders Meeting on May 22nd, the state of Belgium's technology industry was discussed. Mr. Rifkin gave a keynote address on the Third Industrial Revolution, and how Belgian technology firms can take advantage of the changing tides in renewable energy technology.

The Solar Future: NL '13 was the fifth Solarplaza conference in the Netherlands. The conference provided an overview of the developments and opportunities in the Dutch solar market. Mr. Rifkin gave a keynote address on the Third Industrial Revolution.

"How to relaunch the industrial agenda in Mexico in the XXI century," jointly organized by The National Autonomous University of Mexico, The Legal Research Institute and The Global Institute for Research of Industrial Development, examined how to position Mexico's industrial potential in the 21st century. Contributing by video, Mr. Rifkin gave a keynote speech on The Third Industrial Revolution, and how the interdisciplinary approach of the conference, bringing together businesses, governments, and the public sphere, can be applied.

NACUBO Annual Meeting 2013

Indianapolis, USA, July 13th-16th, 2013

NACUBO, the National Association of College and University Business Officers, had Mr. Rifkin present The Third Industrial Revolution for their annual meeting. As Mr. Rifkin describes in his books, a changing tide in the education framework of the country is imperative to facilitate a full-scale transition to a Third Industrial Revolution.
